The Last Storytellers: Tales from the Heart of Morocco

Marrakech is the heart and lifeblood of Morocco’s ancient storytelling tradition. For nearly a thousand years, storytellers have gathered in Marrakech’s main square, Jemaa el Fna, to recount ancient folktales. This unique chain of oral tradition is teetering on the brink of extinction. Radio and television journalist Richard Hamilton tracked down the last few remaining oral storytellers he met working for the BBC in Morocco, and compiled them into this collection of 36 tales.
